Origins and development

The grounds were established in the mid-1960s. Graves from Passendorf cemetery were transferred here in 1965; a memorial stone recalls that connection. The funeral hall, rows of trees and distinct burial sections form the spatial layout of Neustadt cemetery.

Origins: Established in the mid-1960s. The cemetery is in Halle-Neustadt, Teutschenthaler Landstraße, at Teutschenthaler Landstraße 16, 06126 Halle (Saale). Its area is approximately 11 hectares.

Design and present-day character

The cemetery developed alongside the new town of Halle-Neustadt. Its approximately eleven hectares hold around 7,500 plots and about 850 trees. Urn sections make up a large share because of the soil and terrain.

Read this character description together with the development of Halle-Neustadt Cemetery: it identifies what gives the grounds their present identity without turning the cemetery into a purely historical attraction. A visit can focus on spatial structure and named orientation points while leaving individual graves undisturbed.
